Bio

Adam is a 2003 graduate from the Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne, Australia.

His set and/or costume designs for opera are Albert Herring, What Next?, Master Peter’s Puppet Show, Angelique, The Bear and Rembrandt’s Wife for Victorian Opera and The Beggar’s Opera and The Little Sweep for OzOpera.

For the dramatic stage, Adam has designed Die Winterreise, A View Of Concrete, The Autobiography of Red, The Yellow Wallpaper and Drink Pepsi Bitch! for Malthouse, Love Me Tender, The Promise and Paul for Company B Belvoir, Saturn’s Return for Sydney Theatre Company and Grace for Melbourne Theatre Company. For independent companies he has designed Don’t Say The Words for ThinIce/Griffin, Mercury Fur for Little Death/Griffin, Volcano and The Eisteddfod for Stuck Pigs Squealing, Breath Of Life and Shirley Valentine for Hit Productions and Virgins for Echeleon.

His set designs for musicals include the Moonshadow world premiere season and Anything Goes and The Producers for The Production Company. He was Associate Set Designer for the Australian production of Love Never Dies, designed by Gabriela Tylesova, which won the Helpmann for Best Scenic Design.

For dance, Adam’s set and costume designs are Semele for The Australian Ballet and Happy As Larry for Shaun Parker/Sydney Festival.

His special event designs include The Spicks and Speck-tacular and Good Evening national Tours for Token Events, Walking With Dinosaurs (costume design) International Arena Tours and the site design for M2006, Melbourne’s Commonwealth Games Cultural Festival Site which won the Helpmann Award for Best Special Event.

In film, Adam’s designs include the feature Tragedy of Hamlet which received a Melbourne International Film Festival Premier.

Adam has been nominated for six Green Room Awards, winning on 2011 for Angelique and has received scholarships from both the VCA and Malthouse.
